The undisputed “king of the forest”, Red Oak is by far our most popular species of flooring. Slightly reddish in colour with the sapwood being lighter in tone, the grain is pronounced and beautiful with flares or plumes.

The Select & Better grade has minimal variation in tones of light pink to light brown in the same board and between boards. Large knots are absent, well-scattered, small sound knots up to 5 mm (3/16″) in diameter and tiny pin knots 3 mm (1/8″) in diameter are acceptable. Mineral streaks are minor and well-scattered, no longer than 50 mm. Checks and other imperfections from the manufacturing process are rejected. The Select & Better grade provides for an ideal base for natural to light finish coatings.
